Want a web site built?

Or maybe just after some advice on what to do with your existing site. In either case it will be a good idea to contact me. I will be able to help you.

Most of my web site clients are in small business and I help them gain a web presence for a reasonable cost. When you look around the web at the various sites you will see many that appeal to you. Some of these are an on-going labour of love, built by a dedicated and resourceful owner. Other will have been built by a specialist web-building company and may have cost thousands of dollars.

As most of my clients are still in the early stages of development, especially about what they want on their web sites, I tend to build simple sites that allows the client to get their message up and available as quickly as possible. Later the more involved site, with bells and whistles, can be built upon this foundation.

This site is a good example of what I mean. It is probably about the third different look, still maybe not quite what I am after, and the words have been modified, pages added, some pages split into two, some deleted, and so on.

But I do have a web presence, I do rate quite well in the search engines and it does portray what I am about.

So if you are not quite sure of what you want, but need to get a web site up and running anyway, call me!

But it does not stop there!

Building a web site is not the end of the story. You will need a Domain Name, the bit that goes after the “www.” Will it be “.com” or maybe “.com.au?”  Different costs are involved, along with different rules for who can use what!

You must choose where it is to be hosted. This may involves searching around and looking at different hosting services from your current ISP. It may be a question of disk storage, allowable traffic volumes, or reliability.

Once this is sorted out and your new site has been uploaded you need to tell people about it. Otherwise it is like sitting by a phone with a silent number and wondering why you never get any calls!

You can start by putting the web address on your business cards and stationery, maybe in your advertisements and flyers as well. But you really must start to get recognised by the major search engines, like google. This again is where my expertise comes in.
